Academic Policies

Upholding Excellence and Integrity

At Kush Digital College (KDC), our academic policies are designed to provide a clear framework that ensures fairness, consistency, and academic integrity for all students. By establishing transparent guidelines on grading, plagiarism, withdrawal, and appeals, we create an environment where students can thrive while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.

These policies are an essential part of the KDC experience, offering both students and staff the clarity needed to navigate academic expectations and processes effectively.

Grading Policy

Measuring Academic Success

KDC’s grading system is designed to fairly and accurately evaluate student performance across all courses and programmes. Grades are assigned based on a combination of assessments, including assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams, depending on the course requirements.

Grading Scale

KDC employs a standard grading scale as follows:

70–100% (Distinction)

Exceptional performance demonstrating in-depth knowledge, originality, and critical thinking.

60–69% (Merit)

Above-average understanding with sound analysis and application of concepts.

50–59% (Pass)

Satisfactory understanding and completion of course requirements.

Below 50% (Fail)

Performance below the required standard, necessitating reassessment or repetition of the module.
Students receive detailed feedback on their assessments, enabling them to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Progress can also be monitored through the student portal, where grades are updated regularly.
Plagiarism Policy

Maintaining Academic Integrity

KDC places the utmost importance on academic honesty. Plagiarism, defined as presenting someone else’s work as your own without proper attribution, is strictly prohibited. This includes copying text, ideas, code, or data without acknowledgement, as well as using AI tools without adhering to course-specific guidelines.
Detection and Consequences
All submitted work is screened using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality. If plagiarism is identified, the following steps are taken:

First Offence

A warning is issued, and the student may be required to resubmit the assignment with appropriate corrections.

Repeated Offences

The student faces disciplinary action, which may include a failing grade for the module or expulsion from the programme, depending on the severity.

Students are encouraged to use KDC’s online resources and workshops on citation practices and academic writing to avoid unintentional plagiarism.

Withdrawal Policy

Flexibility for Changing Circumstances

We understand that personal or professional circumstances may require students to withdraw from a course or programme. KDC’s withdrawal policy is designed to offer flexibility while ensuring proper academic and financial procedures are followed.

Withdrawal Process
Course Withdrawal

Students wishing to withdraw from a specific course must notify their academic advisor and submit a formal request via the student portal. Withdrawal before 25% of the course completion will not appear on the transcript.

Program Withdrawal

Students intending to withdraw entirely from their program must consult with their advisor to explore alternative solutions or deferment options before proceeding.

Refund Policy

Eligibility for a tuition refund is based on the timing of the withdrawal:

Full refund

Withdrawal within the first two weeks of the semester.

Partial refund

Withdrawal within the first month.

No refund

Withdrawal after the first month.

Appeals Policy

Ensuring Fairness and Transparency

KDC is committed to upholding fairness in all academic matters. If a student believes their academic performance or disciplinary action has been unfairly assessed, they have the right to appeal.

Grounds for Appeal

Students may file an appeal under the following circumstances:
  • A grading error or miscalculation.
  • Evidence of bias or procedural irregularities during assessment.
  • Mitigating personal circumstances (e.g., illness) that were not considered.

Appeals Process:

Submission

Appeals must be submitted in writing within 10 working days of receiving the decision. The appeal should include relevant supporting documents, such as medical certificates or correspondence with instructors.

Review

A review committee, including impartial faculty members, evaluates the appeal and ensures that all policies were followed correctly.

Outcome

The student is notified of the outcome within 15 working days. If the appeal is upheld, necessary adjustments are made to the grade or disciplinary action.

Support and Resources

KDC is committed to supporting students in understanding and adhering to academic policies. Resources such as webinars, workshops, and one-on-one consultations are available to help students navigate these guidelines effectively.
