To ensure our students can succeed in their academic studies, applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency.

KDC accepts a wide range of internationally recognised English language tests:

  • IELTS Academic – Widely accepted by UK universities and required for Tier 4 student visa applications. Offered by the British Council. If applying for a UK visa, you may need IELTS for UKVI.

  • TOEFL iBT – Accepted by most UK universities for academic admissions (not accepted for UK visa purposes).

  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic – Accepted by many UK institutions. PTE Academic UKVI is approved for visa applications.

  • Cambridge English Qualifications – Including C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency; recognised for both academic admissions and visa purposes.

  • LanguageCert International ESOL – Approved by UKVI and accepted by many universities. LanguageCert SELT is available for visa applications.

  • Trinity College London (ISE) – ISE II or ISE III accepted for various UK immigration and visa purposes.

  • Duolingo English Test – Increasingly accepted by UK universities for admissions (not recognised by UKVI for visa purposes).

Minimum required scores may vary depending on your chosen programme. Please check the specific entry requirements for your course or contact our admissions team for guidance.

For applicants who do not meet the required level, KDC offers bridging and preparatory English programmes to help you achieve the necessary standard before starting your main studies.
